1. Definitions

Reader: Any user who purchases or accesses ebooks on the Platform
Author: Any user who uploads, publishes, or sells digital content
Content: Ebooks, manuscripts, text, images, metadata, and related materials
Account: A registered user profile on eBookSelf.in

2. Eligibility & Account Registration

You must be 18 years or older to create an account.
You agree to provide accurate, complete, and up-to-date information.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials.
eBookSelf.in reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms.

3. Platform Role & Disclaimer

eBookSelf.in acts as a technology platform and marketplace, not a publisher.

We do not own author-uploaded content.
Authors are solely responsible for the legality, originality, and accuracy of their content.
We do not guarantee sales, rankings, or earnings.

4. Author Terms

4.1 Content Ownership & Rights

Authors retain 100% ownership of their intellectual property.
By uploading content, authors grant eBookSelf.in a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, distribute, display, and sell the content through the Platform.

4.2 Author Responsibilities

Authors confirm that:

They own the rights or have permission to publish the content
Content does not infringe copyright, trademark, or privacy rights
Content does not contain illegal, defamatory, or prohibited material

4.3 Royalties & Payments

Royalties are calculated as per the Author Dashboard.
Payments are made to the registered bank account after applicable taxes.
Authors are responsible for compliance with income tax and GST laws.

5. Reader Terms

Purchased ebooks are for personal, non-commercial use only.
Sharing, reselling, copying, or redistributing content is strictly prohibited.
Access is protected using Digital Rights Management (DRM).

6. Pricing, Payments & Taxes

All prices are inclusive of applicable GST, unless stated otherwise.
Payments are processed through secure third-party payment gateways.
eBookSelf.in is not responsible for payment gateway errors or bank delays.

7. Refund & Cancellation

Refunds are governed by our Purchase & Refund Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms.
Digital content purchases are generally final, except under specific eligible conditions.

8. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

Upload pirated, plagiarized, or illegal content
Attempt to bypass DRM or security measures
Use the Platform for fraud, abuse, or harassment
Scrape, copy, or reverse-engineer the Platform

Violation may result in account termination and legal action.

9. Intellectual Property

All Platform software, branding, logos, and UI elements are owned by eBookSelf.in.
Unauthorized use of trademarks or platform assets is prohibited.

10. Content Moderation & Takedown

We reserve the right to remove content that violates these Terms or applicable laws.
Takedown requests under the IT Act or copyright laws will be acted upon promptly.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

eBookSelf.in shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
We are not responsible for data loss, revenue loss, or content misuse beyond reasonable control.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless eBookSelf.in from any claims, damages, or legal costs arising from:

Your content
Your violation of these Terms
Your misuse of the Platform

13. Privacy & Data Protection

Your use of the Platform is subject to our Privacy Policy, compliant with the DPDP Act, 2023 and related regulations.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access:

For violation of these Terms
For legal or regulatory reasons
To protect platform integrity

Users may delete their account at any time via account settings.

15. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of India.
All disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts located in India.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms periodically.
Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
